Sarah Nilsen contacted BMD&M to develop the identity for her new business venture as she transitioned from a seasoned corporate sales and marketing professional into an entrepreneur and consultant for startups. With her corporate background, she understood the value of presenting a clean, professional, and versatile logo to establish credibility—while still needing to stay within budget. Our text-based logo approach was the perfect fit, keeping costs down while delivering a fresh, sophisticated, and highly functional design.

We began with hand-rendered sketches, experimenting with different typographic variations that could work seamlessly with text placed beside, under, or around the graphic.
Moving on with Sarah’s favorites from round one, we then explored different typography and color variations. Sarah wanted to go with a modern, mid-century inspired palette, which was fine with us, because, as you can see from the BMD&M brand, that’s our favorite too!


We narrowed the options down and fine-tuned the final logo for a wide range of uses. The final deliverables included multiple file formats — full-color versions, high-resolution vector files for printing and vendor distribution, rasterized files for in-house use, and a single-color version suitable for apparel.
