Daniel is a contemporary artist and activist whose work spans drawing, painting, printmaking, and handmade paper.
Working with Daniel Heyman on a previous project, he reached back out to us to redesign his outdated, portfolio website with the goal of creating a clean, contemporary platform to better showcase his gorgeous work. We designed and developed a simple, text-based logo paired with a modern color palette to complement his artwork, but not take away. His new site is easy to navigate with a clean design full of white space, which gives the feeling of stark gallery walls that keep the focus directly on the artwork.
We custom-developed the back end primarily using out-of-the-box WordPress blocks, supplemented with a few custom fields to provide flexibility while staying within budget. Strategic use of content feeds further reduces the need for manual updates, allowing much of the site to stay current automatically.

We laid out artwork feeds in a responsive masonry layout, allowing images of varying sizes and orientations to flow together in a clean, cohesive format. The artwork itself brings color and energy to each page, while the flexible structure ensures that images align naturally without feeling forced. Captions of any length can be added without disrupting the layout on any device, giving Daniel the freedom to present his work without constraints. Users can navigate through artwork by sorting time or medium.

Custom WordPress development gives the site manager the ability to easily add press items in multiple formats — PDFs, external web links, or internal web pages. Our setup intelligently pulls each item into the feed in the correct format, ensuring consistency and making it effortless to keep press coverage up to date.
